Stillingsopplysninger

Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation established in 2010 to set and operate global standards for responsible aquaculture. We work with aquaculture producers, seafood processors, retail and foodservice companies, scientists, conservation groups and the public globally to promote the best environmental and social choice in farmed seafood. We are a growing organisation of over 85 people working from various countries, including the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Spain, Australia, Japan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brazil and the US.

The ASC seeks a Chair who can help the charity extend its ambition and impact, hold it to account, and who will champion its cause.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join and lead a team of Trustees at the heart of a growing, global organisation.

The role is core to achieving our ambition to grow our impact and influence in service of our vision: ensuring that aquaculture plays a major role in supplying food and social benefits for humanity while minimising negative impacts on the environment.

The ASC’s mission statement is “To transform aquaculture towards environmental sustainability and social responsibility using efficient market mechanisms that create value across the chain”.

The successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of commercial drivers and how they can be used to reduce the environmental and social impacts of production.

Experience of charity governance in some capacity will be important to help steer the Board in carrying out its strategic and oversight responsibilities.

An inclusive chairing style to ensure diverse views are heard and everyone can contribute is essential.  International experience is important and the sensitivity and fluency to chair a global board for which English is the working language.

If you are interested in our mission and inspired by our work, then we encourage you to apply.

To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification.

The deadline for applications is Monday 1st November 2021 at 9:00am (GMT).

Any enquiries should be directed to George Hourmouzios at George.hourmouzios@perrettlaver.com or 020 7340 6246.

The role is unremunerated and based remotely with some travel to board meetings and to visit sites as part of induction and continuing engagement. The expected time commitment for the position is 35 days a year.
